The project "Peace Blankets" was a heartwarming project that brought together young students from different corners of the Diaspora - from Newark, NJ to São Tomé - to paint their unique visions of peace onto squares of recycled fabric.
Students, ready with brushes and paper plates full of paint, painted their ideas for peace onto these squares. The themes varied - vibrant sunsets, doves in flight, and paintings of families all came together to create the mosaics of connected dreams for a more peaceful world.
Through this collaborative effort, "Peace Blankets" nurtured creativity in the younger generation and fostered a sense of shared responsibility for a peaceful future. The resulting 12 blankets, from across the globe were displayed at the UNESCO Luanda Biennale, a Pan African forum for the Culture of Peace. The blankets served as reminders that, through collective effort and partnership, our dreams of peace could be realized.
